Davis Family

This is the Davis family:

Family 5

Aren’t they fabulous?

This picture makes me happy.  Look at the framing and how the tracks draw you right into the scene.  We had beautifully diffused light thanks to a cloudy sky, so the colors are great with no distracting shadows.  And on top of all that, Julia knows how to dress and accessorize--something that has always escaped me.  Those shoes are adorable, but how do you know when you’re in the store that those shoes will be amazing with the right outfit?  And how do you know that outfit can include red?  Are there schools for this type of thing?  Because if there are, sign me up.  But I’m getting off topic.

We took these pictures at Monteith Park, which I love because it has so much variety.  Here are a few of my favorites, but I haven’t gotten down to the nitty gritty with editing, so I’m sure I’ll have more to share next week.  Thanks Julia!  I’m so looking forward to getting together to go through these with you!

Breaking all the rules

So, let me be clear about one thing.  I believe in rules.  I really do think they ought to be followed and that you should pay attention to posted warnings.  But sometimes the temptation is just too great…

Here’s one of my favorites from the Shetka family shoot.

Shetka Family

IMG_4088 I’ve been dying to take pictures here, but it’s October and I live in Oregon.  If you’re wondering why that stopped me, then you’ve obviously not been to Oregon in the fall.  It takes a lot of water to keep all that green.  Thanks to the Shetkas (and those in charge of the weather) for the opportunity today.  Cute kids, great parents, and a gorgeous park.  What more could you want?

Photography Tip of the Day

Family3 4by4

I’m posting this picture because I have a story to share.  When our first was an infant, we had a photo taken that’s very similar to this.  My husband was holding the baby, and his hand was just like Joanna’s in the above shot, except that he had his middle finger extended rather than his pointer.  We didn’t notice until after we’d sent it out to a hundred or so friends and family in our Christmas letter.  So here’s your photo tip of the day:  Watch hand placement.  It can make all the difference in how your picture turns out.

Eschler Family

I’m so lucky to have such a big and wonderful family.  This is my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew.  Nothing like a beautiful Oregon day at the park.  Love the red umbrella.

I have some more to post, and I’ll probably get to it tonight, but I just couldn’t wait to get this one up on the blog.  So dang cute.

My Little Boy

Doesn’t he look older after just 2 weeks of kindergarten?  He’s growing up way too fast.  It’s nap time and the house is quiet, so it’s one of those times I wish my boys would stay little forever.  (Give it an hour and then ask how I’m feeling…)

Love this location!  Doesn’t this picture make you want to go do something outside?  Why in the world am I sitting at my computer when there are places like this just 10 minutes from my house?

A few cute ones from today’s mother-daughter shoot.  Thanks ladies, I had a great time!

And here’s the 3rd member of the family, Rascal.  Of course, she didn’t want to sit when it was a group shot, but with the camera just on her, she was a star!
