We took a little walk before the rest of the family arrived and got some cute shots of Reagan. Hope these make you smile.

I loved capturing these memories. The kids are incredibly cute, and you already know we adore the parents. I have so many thoughts I’d love to share, but I think I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. The expressions on their faces say it all.
Bonus points if you recognize the dance moves in the last picture!

Today, I’d like to introduce you to the Corbus family. We like them. A lot. But, like most of our friends, we don’t get to spend nearly enough time together. Our plan for last night was to meet at a park and take some pictures before coming to our home for dinner. Since they came in from out of town, we didn’t have the option to reschedule. It was raining, and I kind of expected all our pictures to turn out like this:
But we went for it, and I’m glad we did. Here’s a sampling of my favorites, and then I’m off to can the gazillion pounds of tomatoes and pears I picked this weekend.

Like most husbands, Jack was really excited to take family portraits. Especially since we scheduled them right before a football game he wanted to watch. Here’s a little taste of our interactions during the session:
Me: “You don’t need to pose or anything, I’m just getting the settings right on my camera.”
And his response:
Me: “Sit back like you’re really cool.”
Jack: “Like we’re really cool? We are really cool.”
Me: “Okay, just sit and hang out for a minute. Look natural.”
Jack: “Right, because this is how we sit and talk. Lined up on a bench.”
What a good sport. I hope you made it in time for kickoff. And, for any husbands who might read this blog (yeah, right) just be thankful that we only make you do this once a year.

Taking pictures is the easy part. Then comes the editing. Editing is fun, too, but can be very time consuming. Digital photography is wonderful because I can take as many pictures as I want and not worry about film costs (just to give you an idea, I shot a wedding with film and the film plus processing cost over $200). I have a great selection to choose from (no worries about closed eyes when I’ve taken 5 of the same pose), but it’s sometimes hard to pick the best shot. So here I sit, sorting and organizing my pictures, trying to pick my favorites. I thought I’d share what that looks like.
Here’s a glimpse behind the scenes at what I’m working on. This little girl is (obviously) adorable and, once she warmed to me, not a bit camera shy. These pictures were her idea—she told me what she wanted and posed like a pro.
And here’s the one I finally decided on. I love how her beautiful brown eyes draw you in. Watch out, Sandi, she’s gonna be a heart breaker!

I agonize over family pictures. (My hair won’t cooperate. We don’t have the right outfits. I want to lose weight. My kids are never going to sit still...I’m stressed out just typing about it!) I waste days thinking about this every year when we get ready for pictures. So when I had a cancellation for today and decided to try to fill it last minute, I was sure it was a lost cause. Moms need time to shop for these things. But then I talked to Sandi. She’s gorgeous, has fabulous hair, and her kids always look adorable. So she shuffled her schedule and we met at the park where I had a great time capturing those adorable faces. Thanks Sandi!
